Halloween Pocket Page, part two

As promised, I have the flip side of my altered pocket page for Halloween.  For this side, I used all black and white collage images from Altered Pages.

In my first post for this project, I told you how I try to blend in the white edges of the paper with ink on color collages.  The rule is not as hard and fast with black and white images. Sometimes you need a fine line of paper around the image to make it stand out.  If you layer all black and grey images without the little "halo" you might not see everything.  

As with the color collages, paper matters.  I used white paper for everything on this project.  I like black and white images for Halloween because they somehow just feel spookier! 

Egyptian Art Cards

Happy Friday, everyone! 

In the last 10 years or so I have really come to appreciate the beauty of Egyptian art and the grandeur of this ancient civilization.  There is much debate about how the actual builders of the pyramids lived, but there is no doubt at all about its historical significance.  My project today for Altered Pages is an homage to the Pharaohs.

Halloween ATCs

I recently went on my annual craft getaway weekend with my cousin.  We go to the Scrapbook Lodge every year to enjoy non-stop crafting and pampering.  We had a lot of fun!!  I had a couple of projects marked as have-to-dos and I am proud to say they were both done by Saturday afternoon!  Then it was time to play.  I got out some pre-cut ATC (Artist Trading Card) chipboard and stamps from both Altered Pages and Sin City Stamps.  The two companies are partnered in August and my second project this month is Halloween themed!  Today I am sharing the six ATCs I made with these stamps.

Two stamp sets from Altered Pages and a few stamps from Sin City were used to create the designs above.  Most of these are masked, with the exception of the winged gargoyle.  In that case, this head and body were stamped on a piece of card stock, trimmed and glued on. 

I have provided a list at the bottom of the post for you.  Most of these have a combination of inks ranging from Sharpies to StazOn.  There aren't any dimensional embellishments on these while I decide if they will stand alone or be used to create greeting cards.

Mailbox Muse Mermaid ATCs

I've been having a little bit of fun with my latest Mailbox Muse kit.  The theme this time around is mermaids.  Love them!!  I have several stamps already in my collection and this kit came with more of them.  And not just stamps, but beautiful papers and embellishments, too!  The kit comes with a booklet of projects you can make from the kit, but I'm such a rebel that I usually just do my own thing.  Here are three ATCs that I made from the kit.

These cards are all on store-bought chipboard ATC cards.  You can make your own from card stock or playing cards, too!  You could even start with a baseball card!  The traditional size of an Artist Trading Card is 3.5" x 2.5". 

To create the background, I used the edges of my Radiant Neon stamp pads by Tsukineko.  I wanted to preserve each color and not have them blend so I used clear embossing powder and my heat tool after each color addition.  The final blue layer is not embossed.  I used a tissue and dipped it into the inkpad and then lightly rubbed color everywhere there wasn't any. 

I went through my marker collection and found that the Neon Sharpies best matched these inks so I colored the mermaid and shells with them.  The mermaid came on a sheet of black and white images in the kit and the word summer comes from the (#1273) June ATC collage sheet from Altered Pages.

The blue background is Tim Holtz Distress Paint.  The bottle comes with a dauber top and I just rubbed paint all over the card.  When it was completely dry, I sprayed it with bronze irRESISTible texture spray and then stamped a large diamond grid using my new favorite color ink, Delicata Golden Glitz by Tsukineko.  The edges were dipped in Memento Luxe Pistachio ink and embossed with clear powder.

The starfish and clam shell die-cuts and the delicate little mermaid is from the sheet of color images all provided in the kit.  The little circle embellishments are shimmery and were given to me for another project but they matched the card beautifully and ended up here.

Finally, this little beauty was also on the sheet of color images.  The background is stamped with StazOn and Brilliance inks by Tsukineko and has clear Stickles on the waves.
